Class Offerings

Special Offering: Shodo Calligraphy Class

Day: Jan 11, 2025
Time: 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.
Description: In this Japanese calligraphy class suitable for new or returning students, we will be writing 書初め (kakizome) or the first writing of the year. Usually a sentiment that is aspirational for the coming year, the instructor will have pre-written suggestions and demonstrate how to write characters for students. The instructor can also help students choose what they’d like to write. Ink, brushes, paper and all other calligraphy supplies will be provided. While we suggest you bring pencil and paper for any notes you might like to take and perhaps a folder to take home your writing, it is not required. Please wear clothes you don’t mind being stained with permanent ink. There is no Japanese language prerequisite and is intended for students around high school age to adults.
